Among the most storied of its time, this classic cocktail has been around in some form or another since the early 1800s. And while many modern versions call for Rye Whiskey, or a combination of Rye and VSOP, this old school recipe employs VSOP exclusively as originally intended.
Ingredients
- 60mL Premium Classic VSOP
- 10mL Top Shelf Absinthe (to rinse glass)
- 3 dashes of bitters
- Sugar Cube
Method
Rinse chilled rocks glass with 10mL Top Shelf Absinthe and discard. Place sugar cube in bottom of seperate mixing glass, cover with three dashes of bitters and crush cube until fine. Add 60mL Premium Classic VSOP into mixing glass with ice and stir until chilled. Strain into chilled absinthe-washed glass and garnish with a lemon peel.
