Among the most storied of its time, this classic cocktail has been around in some form or another since the early 1800s. And while many modern versions call forĀ Rye Whiskey, or a combination ofĀ RyeĀ andĀ VSOP, this old school recipe employsĀ VSOPĀ exclusively as originally intended.Ā
Ingredients
- 60mLĀ Premium Classic VSOP
- 10mLĀ Top Shelf AbsintheĀ (to rinse glass)
- 3 dashes of bitters
- Sugar Cube
Method
Rinse chilled rocks glass withĀ 10mL Top Shelf AbsintheĀ and discard. Place sugar cube in bottom of seperate mixing glass, cover with three dashes of bittersĀ and crush cube until fine. AddĀ 60mL Premium Classic VSOPĀ into mixing glass with ice and stir until chilled. Strain into chilled absinthe-washed glass and garnish with a lemon peel.
