With this kit, you can make 8L of 40% alcohol per batch. The yeast pack and essences are included in the kit got your FIRST THREE BATCHES, making 24L of 40% alcohol. Once you are up and running, all you need to make the next 8L is this $49 Classic 6 Batch Pack, plus 6kg of white sugar or dextrose.
That works out to be just over $4 per bottle of 40% neutral spirit.
Add to that an essence to that can flavour 2.25L of neutral spirit, which is $13 for the Top Shelf range.
You can have your very own rum, vodka, gin, brandy, bourbon - or whatever you like - for just over $8 per bottle.

Perfect for beginners, no distilling experience required! The Turbo 500 allows you to collect an astonishing 95% of the possible alcohol from the wash. This comes out at an amazing 93% alcohol purity which beats every other still on the market. High quality alcohol made with the Turbo 500 can be used to make high quality, commercial grade, clear spirits such as Gin, White Rum and Vodka as well as any of the other spirits and liqueurs in the Still Spirits Essences range.
Designed and assembled in New Zealand, the Still Spirits Turbo 500 is the world's most advanced fractionating column for home use. It includes stainless steel construction, faucet adaptor for ease of water flow adjustment, 25L boiler with 2000w integrated element, boil dry reset, thermal cut out fuse and waste discharge tap.
The SUPER STARTER PACK has everything you need to get started (and keep you going for a while!) except sugar, you will need 6kgs of sugar per yeast packet, 18kgs total (white sugar, dextrose or Turbo Sugar are all fine). I can’t comment on how to use it but from observation, it takes some close folllowing of instructions and watching several YouTube videos. I recommend getting the water flow regulator in your package as it really makes life easier (hubby didn’t realise I had bought that as well and was struggling with water flow at first). What are the requirements regarding the ATO if I wish to produce alcohol for my use and are there any fees payable. How easy is it to get the ok from the ATO . Thanks Phil

Just rang the ATO and was informed that they don't grant permission to own or use a still for personal use. So I am wondering how you and me get around this?
Hi Damien, that's not true, they're just trying to put you off. If you refer to the legislation (Distillation Regulations 1926) it doesn't mention anything about personal VS business use. In fact "Form 1 - Application for licence to distil spirits" in that legislation actually asks you to list your occupation, it's a very simply form. I don't know why they make it so hard for people wanting to do the right thing. You can argue with them using this legislation and win, as others have. Or if you can't be bothered with that, register your name as an ABN, becoming a sole trader. Everything you buy from us is totally legal. Stills 5L and under are able to be owned without permission. We have boilers over 5L which can be attached to condensers, but they are not stills until you attach them. If you want to do that, it's up to you to seek permission from the ATO to "manufacture" a still over 5L, and then get the licence to produce alcohol with it. Hope that helps!
