We ship from our warehouses in Brisbane and Melbourne. Your order might ship from either warehouse, or from both, as different stock is held in different warehouses. Still Spirits VORTEX Air Cooled Condenser (2" Tri-Clamp) is backordered and will ship as soon as it is back in stock.
The VORTEX is a fan-cooled condenser for 2" tri-clamp stills. It does the job of a water-cooled condenser or dephlegmator with no cooling water at all, so you can distil wherever there's a power point — no garden hose, no tap adaptor, no sink.
Still Spirits rates it at the same speed, output and quality as a traditional water-cooled T500 or Alembic setup. It drops straight into any 2" tri-clamp configuration, including the Create+ range.
How it works
Vapour or liquid runs through two internal tubes wrapped in aluminium fins. The fins pull the heat out, and three built-in fans blow it away. Turning the dial changes fan speed, which changes how hard the unit cools — the same job the tap does on a water-cooled condenser, without the hose, the tap adaptor or the hundreds of litres of water going down the drain each run.

- As the product condenser on a pot still or alembic setup
- As a dephlegmator (reflux condenser) on a 2" column
- Any still with 2" tri-clamp connections, including Create+ components

- Tri-clamps and gaskets are not included — get the VORTEX with Tri-Clamps & Gaskets if you don't already have spares

Care and cleaning
Vacuum the fan grills and fins every so often to clear dust. To clean the vapour path, run a distillation of equal parts white vinegar and drinking water. The fin edges are sharp — handle the unit by its body, not the fins, when assembling, cleaning or storing it.
Laws on distilling alcohol vary. In Australia, producing spirits requires a licence — check the rules that apply to you before distilling alcohol.
