How it works
The false bottom stands above the base of the kettle. After a whirlpool, the hops settle into a cone on top of it, and the wort drawn through the ball valve or pump comes from underneath, already filtered.
FAQ
Can I use it with a sight glass fitted?
We don't recommend it. The extra filtering leaves less liquid in the base and the boil gets more vigorous, which can push boiling wort up the sight glass.
Do I still need a hop spider?
No. The false bottom does the same job and lets you add hops straight to the kettle.
Which hops does it handle?
Pellet, whole cone and plug hops all work.
