How to use
- Ferment (5 to 7 days): clean and sanitise the fermenter, then mix sugar, water and yeast in it.
- Clear the wash with Turbo Carbon and Turbo Clear and check it with the wash hydrometer.
- Distil (about 5 hours): pour the wash into the Create+ boiler with Distiller's Conditioner and boil enhancers, connect the cooling water and run it through the T500 Pro.
- Check strength with the alcometer, then filter through the EZ Filter.
- Flavour (about 5 minutes): add an essence and dilute to drinking strength.
FAQ
Is the T500 Pro suitable for complete beginners?
Yes. The kit comes with step-by-step instructions, video guides and everything needed for a first batch, which most customers complete within a week of receiving it.
How is the T500 Pro different from the standard T500?
It uses 30% less cooling water, has a T2-grade copper and stainless column, a digital alarm thermometer, a detachable condenser and 2" tri-clamp fittings.
How does it compare with the Air Still Pro?
The T500 Pro makes about 8L per batch against 700ml from the Air Still Pro. The T500 Pro reaches up to 93% ABV in reflux mode; the Air Still Pro reaches up to 90% ABV in reflux mode or up to 80% ABV in pot still mode.
Do I need running water?
Yes, you need a tap for cooling water. Adaptors for kitchen taps and garden hoses are included.

- Hi, New to distilling, are you able to do grain alcohol in the Still Spirits Turbo 500 distiller ? What I want to make is the equivalent to Everclear from the US, which is 190 proof, 95% Alcohol by volume ? Please let me know. Cheers Carlos
- Hi Carlos, you can make high proof alcohol up to 186 proof, 93% Alcohol by volume with the Turbo 500, not with grain but with sugar. This skips a step, alcohol is made from yeast eating sugar. When alcohol is make with grains, an enzyme is added to break down the grains so that the yeast can access the sugar in the grains to eat. Everclear uses grain because it's cheaper than using refined sugar, but the results using sugar instead of grains is the same, and it's easier. If you were totally sure you wanted to use grain instead of sugar, you can do so by using the Turbo 500 with the Grainfather G30: https://distilleryking.com.au/collections/grainfather-collection/products/grainfather-connect Hope that helps! - Hey Dylan, this is a super common question so I'm glad you asked. Sometimes the water pressure you're connected to isn't consistent, drops in pressure will increase the temperature, increases in pressure will decrease the temperature. Hence you need to keep adjusting the water flow controller to compensate for this. The water flow regulator removes the need to make these adjustments. It's a pump the regulates the water flow so it's consistent the whole time meaning the temperature is consistent the whole time (so long as there aren't wild swings in the actual water temperature you're using). It makes the process a lot easier.
