Also known as Triple-scale hydrometer, SG hydrometer, beer hydrometer, wine hydrometer
Scale Tri-colour wine/beer scale
Included Hydrometer and test jar
Used for Measuring original and final gravity, tracking fermentation, calculating ABV
Suits Beer, wine, cider, mead and washes

How to use

  1. Sanitise the hydrometer and test jar.
  2. Fill the jar with a sample of wort, must or wash.
  3. Float the hydrometer, spin it to remove bubbles, and read the scale at eye level.
  4. Record your starting gravity (OG) and final gravity (FG). ABV is roughly (OG − FG) × 131.25.
FAQ

How do you read a hydrometer?

Look at eye level where the liquid surface crosses the scale, not at the curve climbing the stem.

How do I calculate ABV with a hydrometer?

Take a reading before fermentation (OG) and after (FG). ABV ≈ (OG − FG) × 131.25. For example, 1.050 to 1.010 gives about 5.25%.

Does temperature affect the reading?

Yes. Hydrometers are calibrated at a set temperature, usually 20°C. Warmer samples read slightly low.
