Dextrose Mono-hydrate (Powder) - 1kg

Regular price $21

Delivery Australia-wide: $16 for this item on its own (based on cart total).

Dextrose Monohydrate is pure glucose powder: a fully fermentable sugar that yeast converts cleanly to alcohol and CO2. Home brewers use it to prime bottles for natural carbonation, to boost the alcohol of beer kits without adding body, and in place of white sugar in spirit washes for a cleaner ferment. This is a 1kg pack.

FAQ

Is dextrose the same as glucose?

Yes. Dextrose is the name used for glucose made from starch, usually corn or wheat.

Dextrose or white sugar for brewing?

Dextrose ferments directly and very cleanly. White sugar (sucrose) has to be split by the yeast first and can leave a slight cidery note in beer.

How much dextrose do I need to prime beer?

About 6–8g per litre, depending on the style and how fizzy you like it.

See dextrose and turbo sugar, or our distiller's sugar wash recipe.
