An English best bitter: ale malt with light crystal and a touch of chocolate, bittered with Warrior and finished with East Kent Goldings and Fuggle. Malty, moderate and built for the tap rather than the bottle.
Thirty-two IBU over a 1.047 wort is the balance the style lives on. The chocolate malt is a small addition doing colour and depth work, not roast — it is what stops a bitter from tasting like a plain pale ale.

What you get
- 16.5 L of pre-boiled, sealed wort in a cube
- No yeast — an English ale strain such as S-04 or Nottingham suits it
There is no mash and no boil. Tip the wort into a sanitised fermenter, pitch your yeast and hold a steady temperature until fermentation finishes. Add 3 L of water to land at 1.047. Yeast is not supplied, so add a sachet to your order.
