The 60L Vulcan Conical Kegmenter is a heavy duty stainless steel conical fermenter built like a commercial keg, with a deep 90 degree cone and a 3 inch TC dump valve at the base. This starter kit adds a pressure lid with floating dip tube and a collection container, so it suits brewers who want to pressure ferment and clean hard without worrying about scratching plastic.

How it works
The Vulcan sits between a standard Kegmenter and a premium conical. The steel is finished to the same standard as a 50L commercial keg rather than polished to a mirror, which makes it tough enough for heat and strong commercial cleaning chemicals; you can even boil in it. The floating dip tube draws clear beer from near the surface, and the 3 inch dump valve clears trub from the bottom of the cone. The Vulcan has a clean outer skin with no extra side ports, so there is less to clean. It is sized to fit a full size RAPT fermentation chamber.
Options
- Spunding valve: none, a Compact BlowTie spunding valve or a Large Dial BlowTie spunding valve. You need one of these to ferment under pressure.
How to use
- Clean with a brewery wash such as PBW, then sanitise with a phosphoric acid sanitiser.
- Fill with wort, pitch your yeast and fit the pressure lid.
- Fit a BlowTie spunding valve and set your fermentation pressure.
- Dump trub through the 3 inch valve as needed, then transfer the finished beer through the floating dip tube.
FAQ
Do I need a spunding valve?
Yes, if you want to ferment under pressure. Add a Compact or Large Dial BlowTie spunding valve in the options above.
What's the difference between the Vulcan and Romulan?
The Romulan adds a 2 inch TC side port for a heating element and a 1.5 inch TC port on the cone for a rotating racking arm. The Vulcan has no extra ports, so the outside is plain and quicker to clean.
Will it fit in a fermentation chamber?
Yes. At 1060mm tall and 405mm wide it is designed to fit a full size RAPT fermentation chamber.
How should I clean it?
Use PBW for everyday cleaning, caustic soda for a deep clean and a phosphoric acid sanitiser. Never use bleach or chlorinated TSP (pink powder), which pits stainless steel and is not covered by warranty.
Pair it with a RAPT fermentation chamber and the StellarClean PBW brewery wash, or see all fermenters and brewing gear.
