Pellet Hops - Citra
Citra is a top choice for late hop additions or dry hopping, perfect for creating an ultimate hop bomb IPA or Pale Ale. With its high alpha acid content, it's also great for bittering IPAs, Pales, and American Ales. Developed by the Hop Breeding Company in a joint venture between John I. Haas, Inc. and Select Botanicals Group, Citra has quickly become one of the most sought-after aroma hops among brewers. Its complex lineage, including Hallertau Mittelfrüh, Tettnanger, Brewer's Gold, and East Kent Golding, contributes to its unique flavor profile of grapefruit, lime, and tropical fruits. Gene Probasco is credited with breeding this hop in 1990, and after being tested by iconic craft breweries like Deschutes and Sierra Nevada, it was officially released in 2008. While its high myrcene content gives it a strong citrusy profile, some brewers caution against using it for bitter.
