These kits have been designed for those of you interested in making specific types of spirits. While the equipment is generally the same, the ingredients that come with each kit allow you to make different kinds of spirits.

Combining the Alembic with the Turbo 500 offers the ultimate flexibility. 

You can use the Turbo 500 to make Gin and Vodka.

VODKA is the easiest, you simply make a pure spirit with the Turbo 500 and that is vodka. You can distil this two or three times to get a "Triple Distilled" vodka much like commercial brands.

GIN follows the same process, however you then take that pure spirit and redistill it with botanicals to make a distilled gin. The Gin kit therefore comes with the addition of the Botanicals Basket and botanicals.

On the other hand, you can use the Alembic to make Rum, Whiskey and Bourbon. The Alembic is used to retain the flavours of the wash.

If you want to make a RUM with molasses for example, you would use the Alembic to distill that. You only need a standard boiler to make rum as the molasses is easily fermented.

If you want to make WHISKEY or BOURBON from grain, you need to upgrade the standard boiler to the Grainfather G30. This system will mash the grains so that they can be fermented and turned into whiskey and bourbon.
