Among the most storied of its time, this classic cocktail has been around in some form or another since the early 1800s. And while many modern versions call forΒ Rye Whiskey, or a combination ofΒ RyeΒ andΒ VSOP, this old school recipe employsΒ VSOPΒ exclusively as originally intended.Β
Ingredients
- 60mLΒ Premium Classic VSOP
- 10mLΒ Top Shelf AbsintheΒ (to rinse glass)
- 3 dashes of bitters
- Sugar Cube
Method
Rinse chilled rocks glass withΒ 10mL Top Shelf AbsintheΒ and discard. Place sugar cube in bottom of seperate mixing glass, cover with three dashes of bittersΒ and crush cube until fine. AddΒ 60mL Premium Classic VSOPΒ into mixing glass with ice and stir until chilled. Strain into chilled absinthe-washed glass and garnish with a lemon peel.
