- What effect does the chlorine and other chemicals in tap water have on the fermentation process and is it better to use RO/DI or distilled water? When diluting the distilled alcohol is it better to use tap water or RO/DI or distilled water?
- Hi Paul, thanks for the question :) Because you are distilling the water as well as the alcohol from the wash, it is fine to use normal tap water for fermentation. When diluting the distilled alcohol, so long as you carbon filter after dilution, using tap water is also fine, as the carbon filters both the water and the alcohol.
