Named for the renowned hop growing region of New Zealand, Motueka is a recent hybrid of a Saaz-style variety and a selection from New Zealand's breeding program. Boasting moderate alpha acid levels and low cohumulone content, this versatile hop is praised for its smooth bitterness when added early in the brewing process, and adds a touch of refreshing lime notes when added later. Formerly known as Belgian Saaz or B Saaz, Motueka is a top choice for New Zealand hops. Developed by HortResearch, this triploid hop derives from Saaz and a yet-to-be-named strain from New Zealand, making it perfect for Lagers, Pilsners, and Belgian Ales. Its dual-use characteristics bring a burst of fruit aromas with hints of tropical and citrus flavors. This hop is a great addition at any stage of the brewing process and complements sweet, malty, and fruity beers exceptionally well. Renowned brewmaster Jack from Massachusetts uses Motueka in
