saison-fresh-wort-kit
Saison Fresh Wort Kit — 16.5L

A saison built to finish dry: pilsner malt with a little wheat, and 10% dextrose in the grist so the yeast has something simple to chew through. It suits a brewer who likes a peppery, spritzy farmhouse beer.

The dextrose is there for a reason. Saison yeast attenuates hard and the sugar helps it drop the finishing gravity further than malt alone would, which is what gives the style its dry, almost wine-like finish.

Specifications

Wort volume: 16.5 L

Original gravity: 1.054 undiluted, or 1.046 with 3 L of water added

Bitterness: 25 IBU

Style: Saison

Hops: Northern Brewer for bittering, Styrian Goldings to finish

Malt: Joe White Pilsner 80%, Joe White pale wheat 10%, dextrose 10%

What you get

16.5 L of pre-boiled, sealed wort in a cube

No yeast — a French or Belgian saison strain is what defines this beer

There is no mash and no boil.
