Very pale at 2 to 3 EBC, and about as crisp and dry as a lager gets.

The rice is what does it. It ferments out almost completely and contributes no colour or flavour of its own, which thins the body and leaves a clean, dry finish that malt alone will not give you.

Specifications

Wort volume: 16.5 L

Original gravity: 1.050 undiluted, or 1.042 with 3 L of water added

Bitterness: 20 IBU

Colour: 2 to 3 EBC

Style: Japanese rice lager

Hops: Magnum

Malt: pale ale, Carahell and rice

What you get

16.5 L of pre-boiled, sealed wort in a cube

No yeast — a clean lager strain suits it

There is no mash and no boil.
