The chocolate malt is a small addition doing colour and depth work, not roast — it is what stops a bitter from tasting like a plain pale ale.

Specifications

Wort volume: 16.5 L

Original gravity: 1.047 with 3 L of water added

Bitterness: 32 IBU

Style: English best bitter

Hops: Warrior, East Kent Goldings and Fuggle

Malt: ale, light crystal and chocolate

What you get

16.5 L of pre-boiled, sealed wort in a cube

No yeast — an English ale strain such as S-04 or Nottingham suits it

There is no mash and no boil.
